In a season full of special achievements, Ospreys in the Community has made significant strides in engaging the community through their successful Defender Rugby Camps.
The Defender Camps have become a vital tool for introducing the sport of rugby to a new generation and fostering connections within the local community.
Throughout the season, the OitC hosted a total of 63 paid Defender Rugby Camps, welcoming 2,162 participants. This influx of young attendees reflects the growing enthusiasm for rugby in the region and highlights the effectiveness of OitC’s efforts.
The impact of the Defender Rugby Camps extends beyond the number of people attended. OitC have raised a remarkable £58,000, which has been reinvested into local schools' programmes. This funding has been instrumental in delivering an astonishing 1,079 primary school sessions, reaching over 5,000 children. Through these sessions, young participants not only learned the fundamentals of rugby but also had the opportunity to engage with the sport in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Ospreys in the Community would also like to take this opportunity to thank Sinclair Land Rover Swansea for their continued support throughout the camps, which has been invaluable throughout the season.
After a successful 25/26 season, Defender Rugby Camps are back this summer! On the Road Camps currently taking place in the lead up to August's 3 day camps at Ospreys' High Performance Centre, Llandarcy.
