Scarlets u18s come out on top against Ospreys u18s

The Scarlets put the pressure on the Ospreys early on in this one. A kick charge down resulted in an extended spell of possession deep into the Ospreys 22 but solid defence from the away team and a penalty at the scrum mean they were able to clear their lines.

The Ospreys scrum continued to be a force in the early stages, winning their second penalty and changing the tide of the game. Ospreys enjoyed a spell deep into Scarlets territory but it was the home side’s turn for a defensive stop.

As we hit the 20-minute mark, a superb offload out the back from Will Howells seemed to open up a try for the Ospreys but an overzealous Scarlets denied the try and resulted in a sin bin.

TRY FOR OSPREYS! Ospreys made instant use of the extra man a ball is whipped out wide to Evan Morris who is able to finish in the corner. 5-0 Ospreys.

TRY FOR OSPREYS! Ospreys go over again, this time through Lewis Edwards. Emrys Jones converts and puts the Ospreys to extend the Ospreys’ two score lead. 12-0 Ospreys.

The second Ospreys score seemed to awaken the Scarlets as they marched into the Ospreys 22 but another defensive stop from the visitors meant it would be an unfruitful trip.

Try for Scarlets. The home team’s fast start to second half was rewarded as they scored soon after the break. Scarlets 5, Ospreys 17.

Try for Scarlets. The home team continued to enjoy a good period of play in the second half and were able to score again, converting the try. Scarlets 12, Ospreys 17.

The Scarlets’ second half pressure continued after the scores with the Ospreys going down to 13 men after consecutive sin bins.

Try for Scarlets. The home side made the extra men count as they went over for their third score of the second half and took the lead for the first time in the game. They convert the try from a tough angle. Scarlets 19, Ospreys 17.

Try for Scarlets. The extra men proving too much for the Ospreys defence as they conceded the Scarlets fourth try of the game. Another tough kick converted and the Scarlets extend their lead. Scarlets 26, Ospreys 17.
