Young Ospreys Head To Cwmtawe 7's

The Young Ospreys have named a provisional squad ahead of their regular trip to the prestigious Cwmtawe 7"€™s, taking place this Saturday (August 1st).

The tournament is a popular part of the local rugby calendar and gives the opportunity for a number of Osprey Academy players, fresh from completing the second phase of their pre-season preparations, as well as selected young talent from across the region, to take on some of the most well respected and established teams on the 7's circuit.

Ospreys Skills Coach, Gruff Rees, and Academy Conditioning Coach, Keith Hollifield, are preparing the squad for the tournament.

Former Wales 7's coach Rees commented:

"Cwmtawe provides a great opportunity for some of the region's exciting young talent in challenge themselves against senior opponents. The players selected all have different attributes and great potential, although we are quite mindful that we will need to adapt quickly and understand the different aspects of a 7's tournament. Ultimately, it provides greater physicality than some will be used to, whilst our core skills will be tested to a good level, and as such we are excited as a group to take up the challenge on offer."

The Young Ospreys first game will be against the Covenant Brothers at 11.50 a.m., followed at 2.30 p.m.by the final game in Pool C versus the Welsh Samurai 7, playing in honour of Colin Hillman.

The Young Ospreys squad will be as follows:

Tom Prydie,  Dan Baker, Daniel Davies, Matthew Morgan, Ben John, Eli Walker, (All Ospreys Academy), Richard Kelly, Liam Davies (Both Ospreys), Sam Lewis (Mumbles), Will Price (Tonmawr), Chris Banfield (Loughor), Warren Davies (Aberavon).
