The Young Ospreys under 16's took advantage of the half term break to travel to Llanidloes RFC and played a friendly fixture with North Wales.
Both teams used it as development match and the opportunity to look at all of their squad players. It was also agreed to play the game over three periods of 25 minutes so that all the players were given the opportunity to shine, in front of their coaches. During the first period the Young Ospreys played some excellent attacking rugby and ran in three tries against what was a spirited North Walian defence. Jonathon Phillips (pictured) got a brace of tries (one of which he converted) and Kyle Blackmore (pictured) also scored one, for the Young Ospreys to lead by 17 points to nil at that stage. During the second period the Young Ospreys continued to demonstrate their creativety and added a further two tries. Ryan Jones (action picture) scored a try which Tom Pridey (pictured kicking) converted before Blackmore grabbed his second; the Young Ospreys led by 27 points to nil after the second period. In fairness to North Wales they kept their best team back until the final period and it was a really hard fought battle during that 25 minutes. North Wales kicked a penalty before Pridey scored a try. The North, who had battled hard all afternoon were determined to have the last word and they did by scoring the last try and a final score of 34 points to 8 in the Young Ospreys favour.
