Young Ospreys battle to win

The Ospreys U16's completed the double over the Dragons as they edged a narrow 13-5 victory over their opponents at Llandarcy yesterday.

The Eyasses took the lead early on through the boot of James Davies, but they soon found themselves behind as Dragons flanker, Dawid Rubasniak, crossed for a 5-pointer before half-time.

The young Ospreys team looked to be heading in behind at the break, but winger, James Roberts touched down for a try of his own, converted by Davies. Hard work and gritty determination put them 10-5 up as the half-time whistle sounded.

Both defences held firm and looked difficult to break down throughout the second half. The Eyasses had the chance to put themselves two scores ahead and they did exactly that when substitute, Matthew Aubrey slotted a penalty, with 10 minutes of the match remaining.

The Eyasses held on to their 8 point lead and grabbed a vital win, which ensures there is plenty of daylight between them and the Dragons in the table and puts pressure on the fellow regions.
