Future potential Young Ospreys for next seasons under 16's have already been taking part in development sessions but, it goes a stage further next week when they take part in the first of a series of trials for final squad selection.
The new cohort of players are aware of the high standards that have been set out before them and they have already demonstrated a hunger to take up the mantle. Over the last three seasons the under 16's have won the Reebok Trophy and the Welsh Premier League is already littered with players who have come through this structure. Further to that centre Ashley Beck became the youngest player to take part in the Magners League at the tender age of 17; outside half Daniel Bigger came off the bench to play a small part in the EDF semi final victory over Saracens and, fresh from his exploits with the Welsh 7's, utility back Gareth Owen sits on the bench in the EDF Final at Twickenham tomorrow (Saturday). The expectations are high that hopefully the same calibre of players lies within this new group. Wednesday 16th April players report to Llandarcy Academy of Sport at 5pm for a 6pm kick off. Wednesday 23rd April players report to South Wales Police RFC at 5pm for a 6pm kick off.
