Two top Welsh Regions from the competition on 26th July will qualify for the Series Final at the Twickenham Stoop on Friday 8th August.

Premiership Rugby Chief Executive Mark McCafferty said:  “It shows that the bond between the Premiership Rugby clubs and our friends in the Welsh Regions is strengthening. Adding the Welsh Regions to this year’s tournament will take it to a new level and it has been really welcomed by the English clubs whose players are looking forward to added competition and seeing what the Welsh sides bring.”

All four qualifying legs of the 7s, including include Group B (Bath Rugby, Gloucester Rugby, London Irish, Exeter Chiefs), Group C (Harlequins, Northampton Saints, Saracens, London Wasps) and Group D (Leicester Tigers, Newcastle Falcons, Sale Sharks, London Welsh),  will be covered live on BT Sport - the new sponsor of the four Welsh regions.

Mark Davies, Acting Chief Executive of RRW said:  “With such a vibrant 7's framework across the Junior sections of the Community Clubs in Wales, 7's Rugby is a dynamic that has been missing from the Regional game as a valuable player development pathway and source of inspiration to young players.

"We are indebted to Premiership Rugby for their invitation to join the Premiership Rugby 7's ahead of its introduction to the Olympics in 2016 and the opportunity for the Regions to be part of an established and intense competition is a mouth watering prospect for our coaches, players and supporters.

“Welsh rugby at its best is a magical, fast flowing game full of pace which suits the 7's format perfectly, so July 26th will be a perfect opportunity for loyal supporters and people new to the spectacle of the game to spend a thrilling summer evening watching all 4 Regions compete in the Wales Qualifier at the BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park.

“It’s a highly popular and successful summer rugby format that pulls in the crowds in England and we’d like to see BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park buzzing for the first-ever Welsh leg of the competition so encourage all rugby lovers to be part of what will be a great evening of sporting entertainment.”
