Rhys Webb will complete his half-century of Ospreys appearances tomorrow having been cleared to play in the PRO12 game against Munster at a disciplinary hearing in Edinburgh this morning.
Webb appeared before an independent RaboDirect PRO12 Disciplinary Committee, chaired by John Kirk (Scotland), assisted by Rob Flockhart (Scotland) and Paul Minto (Scotland).
The Committee upheld the citing in respect of law 10.4 (o) which states “a player must not intentionally charge or obstruct an opponent who has just kicked the ball”.
After hearing evidence from the player and viewing the video evidence, the disciplinary committee found that law 10.4(o) had been breached, but that, on the balance of probabilities, the offence would not have merited a red card and accordingly no suspension was issued.
The 22-year old scrum-half is therefore free to play immediately and will earn his 50th regional cap at the Liberty Stadium against Munster tomorrow (KO 6.30pm). His debut came as a late replacement in a 32-7 win over Ulster at the Liberty Stadium in March 2008.
