Watkin and King top the charts

The latest Guinness PRO14 OPTA stats show James King and Owen Watkin impressing in Round 5.

The Ospreys defeated Zebre in Parma last Saturday 22-8, with King ruling the line-out, topping the charts for steals over the weekend with two during the game.

Meanwhile, Watkin’s tally of three turnovers won was the second highest of the round and moves him joint top of the table for the season on eight, equal to Ellis Jenkins of Cardiff Blues.

Despite his two turnovers on Saturday, Justin Tipuric doesn’t feature in the top 25 for the campaign to date, but several of his Ospreys colleagues do. Alun Wyn Jones, with six, is in joint third, two behind Watkin, while Nicky Smith (five) Scott Otten and George North (both four), also feature.

Another to impress in Italy was winger Luke Morgan. He grabbed his second try of the season and his five defenders, three clean breaks and 76 metres all see him featuring high in the weekend charts.

Across the season as a whole, North continues to feature prominently with both his offensive and defensive game impressing. Only four players better his tally for defenders beaten (18), his eight clean breaks put him just one off the highest tally and he is seventh on the metres made chart with 288, as well as his impressive turnovers total.
