The Ospreys Under-18 side kick off the 2009/10 WRU Regional Championship campaign on Wednesday evening, when they face Newport Gwent Dragons at Pandy Park, Cross Keys RFC, KO 7.15pm.
The game is the first in the eight match competitive season for the Eyasses, with the first home fixture of the new campaign coming the following Wednesday (2nd September), when they entertain the Scarlets at Llandarcy Academy of Sport.
Speaking ahead of the Dragons clash, Andrew Millward, Regional Performance Development Manager, said:
“We are looking forward to the start of the new season, pre-season has gone very well for the youngsters and they can’t wait for Wednesday night’s game now. We have a group of players who are very mature and professional in their outlook, who are keen to show what they can do in this environment, so the game can’t come soon enough.
“When you look at the make-up of the senior Ospreys with so many young, local players progressing through the ranks, including the latest player to step up in 17 year old Tom Prydie, then the incentive for this group of players is clear to see. We have an excellent track record at the Ospreys for developing talent and giving youth it’s opportunity, so these boys now that if they perform at age-grade level, they will get their chance as a senior Osprey.”
