Under 16's Making A Habit Of Slow Starts

On a beautiful evening and on superb pitch at Tredegar RFC the Young Ospreys were having a nightmare when after 10 minutes they were as many points down.

A big Dragons team were impressive at the lineout and that quality provided for a controlled performance and two well worked tries for their wingers Neil Jennings and Liam Foley. However, the Young Ospreys were in familiar territory as they have been in this position in all three friendlies that they've played this season. So it was no surprise when a training ground move saw centre Dean Howell feed wing Eli Walker who finished impressively. They were 10 points to 7 down at the interval and the calmness shown by the coaching squad certainly convinced the players that they were capable of going back out and producing a winning performance. This view was reinforced as immediately after the re-start captain and scrum half Ryan Jones scored an excellent individual try as he sped in from 35 metres. Next up was a try for impressive No 8 Dan Baker who barged over from the back of a scrum. Then hard working open side flanker Mike Sully was rewarded for his efforts with a try from close range and earned the Young Ospreys a bonus point for scoring 4 tries. Finally when replacement outside half Owen Williams kicked ahead the Dragons defence struggled to gather the ball and wing Bowdy Davies took advantage to score. Centre Tom Pridey's goal kicking was in the 100% bracket as he kicked immaculately.   Final Score: Dragons Under 16's 10 Young Ospreys Under 16's 35.
