The Ospreys Under-16's launched their WRU Regional Championship season in style at Llandarcy Academy of Sport on Wednesday night, with a comprehensive victory over Blues South.
Originally scheduled for last week only to fall victim of the unseasonal rainfall, the Ospreys came out on top, claiming a 31-7 victory, having raced into a 17-0 interval lead.
The Ospreys took the lead with a Sam Davies penalty, and after dominating long periods of the first half they scored two tries late in the half from No8 Matthew Jenkins and hooker Evan Yardley, both converted by Sam Davies to take a 17-0 lead at half time.
In the second half the Ospreys continued their domination of the game but failed to take scoring opportunities before tries from centre Ben Roberts and prop Sean McDonnell Roberts both converted by Sam Davies sealed victory. The Blues South scored a late consolation try for their efforts from centre Jack Phillips, converted by outside half Gareth Thompson.
Next up for the Under-16’s is an away game against Newport Gwent Dragons on Wednesday 16th September, kicking off at 7.15pm.
