Under-15's Ospreys Cup reaches an exciting

Porthcawl claim the Ospreys Cup, while Pencoed take the Bowl and Morriston win the Plate.

Finals day of this season's Under-15's Ospreys Cup competition saw three exciting matches featuring teams from the length and breadth of Ospreylia.

The Bowl final was held at Dunvant RFC between Pontardawe and Pencoed.

Pontardawe took the lead through long range penalty from Tom Dew their lead was extended in the second half through outside half Steffan Harris. Pencoed then fought back with a try from prop James Treadery to leave them trailing 6-5 with 10 minutes to go.

Pencoed looked to snatch victory with drop goal from Owen Howe and a try from captain Rhys Badger.

Pontardawe wouldn't lie down though and came back with a try from Curtis Davies which was converted by Steffan Harris.

With no time left to play the game finished 13 all but Pencoed won on try count, with Ospreys player Ben Lewis presented the Bowl to winners Pencoed after the final whistle.

The Plate and Cup finals were played at Maesteg RFC. In the Plate, Morriston beat Tonmawr 15 - 10. Morriston fly-half Joe Thomas was outstanding in his all round game scoring a great try, looping the centre to receive an offload, before breaking through the line to go one on one with the fullback before racing clear.

The final then saw Porthcawl defeat Aberavon Greenstars by 18 points to 0, a win that was built on the strength, power and organisation of the Porthcawl front eight. Tries came from Owen Wright and Tom Bluck, with Josh White (Ospreys U16s) kicking 8 points, including a 40m penalty.
