A Blues South second-half comeback prevented the Ospreys U16's from finishing the WRU Regional Championship on a high at Canton RFC last night.
The Eyasses went in at the break looking the stronger of the two teams, holding a seven point advantage over their opponents but the second half belonged to the Blues South who fought back to complete a 13-10 victory.
Winger James Roberts touched down to give the young Ospreys the lead in the first half. Matthew Aubrey had earlier slotted a penalty and was on form as he added the conversion to Roberts’ try. Luke Fish kept the Blues South within seven points with a penalty of his.
The momentum swung in favour of the hosts as the second half commenced. Ten minutes had passed before the Blues South found themselves level with the visitors. Substitute, Cameron James had crossed for the Blues and Fish duly converted.
The game was drawing to a close as we entered the final quarter of the match. Ill-discipline from the Eyasses provided their opponents with a penalty within striking distance. Fullback, Will Brinkley stepped up to put the Blues South in front for the first time in the game and the hosts held out for ten minutes to secure victory.
