Thumb dislocation to sideline Ryan Jones

Ryan Jones has been ruled out of Saturday's Heineken Cup game against Benetton Treviso after suffering a compound dislocation of the thumb joint in his right hand during yesterday's draw with Leicester Tigers at the Liberty Stadium.

Jones left the field towards the end of the first half and was taken to Morriston Hospital in Swansea, where he was treated overnight for his injury.

Ospreys Head Physio, Chris Towers, confirmed the duration of his lay-off, saying:

“Having suffered a compound dislocation of the thumb joint during Sunday’s game, the initial estimate is that Ryan will be unavailable for around three to four weeks. However, I’d stress that this is subject to further review in around seven to ten days.”
