Three try win for Eyassess

The Eyasses rounded off their Tri-Series of games against the District sides with a win over Afan Nedd on Wednesday night to make it three out of three for the Young Ospreys.

A 17-0 win for the Ospreys U16’s followed on from 15-7 and 38-21 successes over Swansea and Bridgend respectively.

The Eyasses led 7-0 at the interval through a James Needs try, converted by Joe Thomas as Afan Nedd offered provided testing opposition. A second score from wing Needs after the break, along with a try from Scott Govan that was also converted by Thomas completed a pleasing victory.

Ospreys Player Development and ‘C’ Group Coach, Ioan Cunningham, commented:

“This series of games has been an overwhelming success on all counts. We’ve identified two players who will now participate with the group over the coming weeks, which was the main purpose of the games, while they’ve also provided a great opportunity for the whole coaching team to see players in action who haven’t featured yet this season.

“Also, the games provided us with an opportunity to go to Swansea Uplands, Pyle and Abercrave RFC’s, clubs at the heart of the local community, who appreciated our commitment to grass roots rugby. Without exception we had a fantastic welcome, with good crowds turning out at each venue to support the exceptional young talent we have in the region.”
