Steve Tandy was delighted with the performance as the Ospreys battled to a hard fought win over an experienced London Wasps team at the Riverside Hardware Brewery Field on Sunday afternoon.
Speaking to the media after the final whistle, he commented:
“It’s been a great afternoon, a great experience for the boys in fairness. There were players across the field who took the chance to impress, young boys out there who wanted to test themselves and show what they were about, and it’s a good win against a very good Wasps team who had real quality on the pitch. We can be pleased with the way things went for us.
“From 1-23, all the boys really performed for the shirt today. The standout was Tom Isaacs, showing his development in the 15-man game. It was great to see.
“Obviously we’re disappointed to go out of the competition but we’ve won three games, and we got a bonus point up in Newcastle. It’s been a real young group in the main, the way they’ve performed throughout has been a real positive for the Ospreys.
“As part of the coaching staff for this competition, it’s been a great environment to be in, all the boys have bought into our plans. You can’t really ask much more. You see the team that Wasps have sent down and we’ve got a team with a lot of young guys out there who have really put in a performance today.
“It’s fantastic to see that we are developing strength in depth. We’ve got the internationals away, a few injuries, that’s more tan 20 players missing, but these boys have put their hands up to play Ulster next week, every single one of them."
