Surgery rules Baldwin out

Young hooker Scott Baldwin faces a spell on the sidelines after it was confirmed today that he requires surgery to repair a hernia.

The 21-year old, who has been in fine form for high-flying Swansea RFC in the Premiership this season, met with a specialist this morning to confirm the news.

Ospreys Head Physio, Chris Towers, commented:

“Our initial suspicions that Scott is suffering from a hernia were confirmed by the specialist, and that he will need keyhole surgery to resolve the problem.

“The operation should take place next week, and we are predicting a four to six week return to playing post-op. The medical care and welfare of all our players is primary, and we will always act swiftly to ensure they get the best treatment, be they senior players or younger members of the squad.”
