Surgery confirms 10-12 week lay-off for Shane

Shane Williams has undergone surgery on the shoulder he dislocated on Wales duty against South Africa last weekend, with the surgeon confirming the original estimate of a 10 to 12 week spell on the sidelines for the winger.

Ospreys Physio Chris Towers spoke to the surgeon Thursday, who confirmed that Williams won’t feature again for approximately three months. Towers said:

“Shane underwent arthroscopic (key hole) surgery to his injured left shoulder following his injury on Saturday. Nothing was highlighted at surgery to change the predicted return to play prognosis, which is still expected to be in the region of 10-12 weeks, and will see Shane initially in a sling for 4-6 weeks before starting more sport specific rehab.”
