The Achilles tendon injury suffered by De Kock Steenkamp means he has been ruled out of action until next year, but he won’t need surgery.
The South African second row sustained the injury within a week of his arrival at the region, and after taking expert medical opinion, Medical Performance Manager, Chris Towers, was able to confirm the diagnosis.
“De Kock suffered a ruptured Achilles” said Towers.
“It is a significant injury but, fortunately, he doesn’t require surgery. We are looking at a best case scenario of a six month rehab period, but there is no reason why he shouldn’t make a full recovery from this injury.”
