Children from right across Ospreylia came together at two special half-term Kids Camps this week where they enjoyed a fun-packed day of rugby activity.
The sold-out signs went up at Llandarcy Academy of Sport and Bridgend College Pencoed Campus as young rugby fans enjoyed the opportunity to learn new skills with the Ospreys Community Coaching team, who put them through their paces in a series of activities.
The highlight of the camps, as always, was a special visit from Ospreys players who took time out from training to spend time taking part in the rugby fun and games before ensuring every child managed to gather as many autographs as they possibly could, sending them home with great memories and special Ospreys goodie bags.
WRU/Ospreys Regional Community Manager, Ben Rose, said:
“It’s fantastic to have both our Half-Term Kids Camps sold out, with over 100 local children enjoying themselves in our environment. The week has been a great success, with Ospreylian youngsters really connecting with the region and having a great time.
“The excitement generated by the player visit is always something special and it was no different this time. Shirts, shorts, hoodies, and just about everybody body part has been autographed. There’s going to be some children not wanting to wash the signatures off tonight!”
Ospreys winger Nikki Walker was at the Llandarcy Camp on Thursday and he said it had been great fun for everybody:
“It’s always a great buzz at the Kids Camps and this one was no different. To see so many young Ospreys fans, almost all of them in our jersey, and having a fantastic time playing rugby is brilliant.
“All the players enjoy attending the camps, it’s always good to meet young children who love the Ospreys, and hopefully, spending a bit of time with them like this will encourage them to develop a lifelong passion for the region. Hopefully we’ll see them all soon at the Liberty Stadium.”
There will be more Kids Camps hosted by the region during the Easter holidays so watch out for details on the website so that you can ensure the Ospreys mad youngster in your family can be part of the fun.
