With schools in Ospreylia breaking up for the summer holidays over the next week, there's still time for rugby mad youngsters to sign up for the Summer Kids Camps which get underway later this month.
Hosted by the Ospreys Community Rugby team in conjunction with our primary sponsors RWE npower renewables, the camps are aimed at both boys and girls aged 5-11, and are open to rugby mad children of all abilities, covering tag or contact rugby dependent on age.
Following the success of the Easter Kids Camps, once again there will be both one and two-day camps taking place, providing an exciting and fun experience for all young Ospreys, in a safe and fun environment.
All children signing up will get the opportunity to boost their rugby skills with help of the Ospreys Community Coaches, including up and coming Eyasses – members of the Ospreys ‘C’ Group.
Llandarcy Academy of Sport will host two two-day and one one-day camps, while there will also be a one-day camp at Bridgend College’s Pencoed Campus.
In addition to specialist coaching, all participants will receive a goodie bag full of Ospreys gifts, as well as a special visit from members of the Ospreys squad who will answer questions, sign autographs and join in all the fun, while they will also enjoy a rare chance to go behind the scenes and watch the senior Ospreys squad participating in a full training session.
Regional Community Manager, Ben Rose, said:
“We had a tremendous response to our Easter Kids Camps, having worked hard to make them bigger and better than ever, and we are expecting a similar response this summer.
“The Kids Camps are extremely important to us, in terms of reaching out to young fans in our region who are keen to learn rugby skills alongside like minded children, and their success can have a huge long-term impact on the Ospreys future as the more people we have playing rugby the better.
“I’d expect that the summer camps will once again prove to be a huge hit, and we look forward to welcoming our younger fans in big numbers once again.”
