A Second Half Brace For Chad Punchard Saves

Two second half tries from full back Chad Punchard (pictured) and one from captain and No 8 Rhys Ruddock saved the Young Ospreys from an embarressing loss to an Ospreys District team.

In the first half of the game held at Ystradgynlais RFC, it was the Districts who looked to be the more experienced team as their hunger to succeed saw them quicker to the breakdown and more aggressive in the contact area. This hunger to succeed resulted in a try for centre Kristian Jenkins which was converted by outside half Craig Baker and a deserved half time lead of 7 points to nil. However in the second half Punchard (2) and Ruddock were personally rewarded for outstanding performances with three tries between them. Replacement outside half Chris Banfield converted one for a final score of 17 points to 7. So impressed were they by the performances of District outside Baker and prop Terry Saunders that the coaching staff to the Young Ospreys have invited them both to join the squad as they prepare for their next Reebok fixture. That fixture will be on Wednesday 13th December at Cross Keys RFC, 7.15pm kick off.
