Schools ready for World Cup festivals

School children from across Ospreylia will take part in three Rugby World Cup themed events, kicking off at Dunvant RFC this week.

Well over a thousand primary school children have signed up for the special rugby festivals that are based on the sport’s flagship tournament, which kicked off last weekend.

The opening event, this Friday, sees 18 Swansea schools compete in the Gower Schools Rugby Festival, hosted in partnership by Ospreys in the Community and South Wales Police.

Participating schools have each been allocated a World Cup country to represent and there will be an official Opening Ceremony, where children will parade their countries flag, before an exciting day of rugby gets underway at Broadacre.

Will St David's, representing Wales, give us a World Cup to remember and can Pennard provide a big shock as their nation Japan have done?

There will also be an appearance from Ospreys players for the end of day presentation, bringing what promises to be a day to remember for all involved to a close.

The other World Cup Festivals will take place on October 9th at Llandarcy Academy of Sport and October 23rd at Bridgend College.
