Scarlets: Ones to Watch

As we approach the most anticipated game in the Welsh rugby calendar, we had a peek at some of the key players for the Scarlets.

From a Tongan Powerhouse to the BKT URC’s leader in clean breaks, here is this week’s Ones to Watch.

Sione Kalamafoni

Born in Tonga, Sione Kalamafoni is one of the most dangerous ball carriers in the BKT URC. This isn’t just opinion, the big No.8 leads the league in carries (131) and successful carries (61). If that wasn’t enough, Kalamafoni is also amongst the league leaders in tackles made (96).

Ryan Conbeer

Ryan Conbeer has enjoyed a great start to his BKT URC campaign. Similarly to Kalamafoni, Conbeer is around the stat leaders in a few different areas, including first in line breaks (tied with Darcy Graham) and tied second in defenders beaten.

Johnny McNicholl

King of the offload, McNicholl is a master of drawing in defenders through contact and shipping the ball off to his supporting runners. The New Zealand born Welsh international is a great reader of the game and can spot a gap in opposition defence from a mile off. The wing/full-back is third in the league for metres gained this year.
