The Ospreys announced today that Sam Parry had signed a new deal to stay with the club.
Parry has made 183 appearances for the club, making him the joint highest featured hooker for the club, and is also 5th on the team’s all-time try scorer list with 46 to his name. Parry has made seven appearances for Wales in his career.
The hooker has emerged as a leader for the team in recent seasons, having captained the side on multiple occasions.
A powerful ball carrier that offers reliability at set piece time, Parry’s commitment to the Ospreys will come as good news to supporters, who will look forward to seeing the club legend run out at St Helen’s next season.
Speaking on his new deal, Parry said: “I’m really happy to be staying with the Ospreys, this club means a lot to me. I have spent most of my career here and have played a lot of games in that time, each time I’ve run onto the pitch wearing the black jersey has been just as special as the last.”
“We’ve got a good group here, with a mix of experience and exciting young talent and I’m looking forward to contributing in whatever way I can in making sure we reach our potential.”
Head Coach, Mark Jones, said: “Sam personifies what it is to be an Osprey. To have someone like him in your squad is invaluable and his professionalism has always been unquestionable since I joined the club. You don’t make as many appearances for a club with such a rich history like the Ospreys without being a good human and Sam certainly qualifies as that.
“When you have a young core of players like we do, including two high potential hookers, it’s incredibly important to have players that not only lead by example in what they say, but in their actions on the pitch also. He is a quality player that offers so much to as a team, so we’re really happy to get this one over the line.”
