Russell Watson's amazing voice will fill Liberty Stadium!
We are pleased to announce that the Liberty Stadium will host a second concert this summer! This event will be "Liberty Classical Extravaganza" and is not to be missed.
On Saturday 2nd June 2007 the amazing voice of multi-million selling tenor, Russell Watson will fill the stands of Liberty Stadium, Swansea. Known as "the people's tenor", Manchester born Watson has enjoyed phenomenal success since releasing his first album, "The Voice", in September 2000, gaining both popular and critical acclaim and winning numerous Classical Brit awards. Each of his six albums to date has topped the UK Classical Album Chart, whilst also hitting the Top 10 in the pop charts. "he Voice" stayed at number one in the classical charts for a whole year, only to be deposed by its follow-up, "Encore". In 2001, Encore topped the classical charts in the UK and the US simultaneously, making him the first British male solo artist to have number one albums on both sides of the Atlantic simultaneously.
Russell appears with special guest, Fflur Wyn, the winner of 2002 Young Welsh Singer Of The Year. The Brynamman born soprano, who has performed with the Welsh and English National Opera, is a previous winner of the Bryn Terfel Scholarship at the Eistedfodd; with other accolades including first prize in the 2005 National Handel Competition plus the London Welsh Singer of the Year. Choirs represented will include the Swansea Philharmonic Choir, Gower Chorale, Penclawdd Choir, Morriston Tabernacle Choir and Skewen Chorale. Musical accompaniment for the evening will be provided by The Chamber Orchestra of Wales, who boast some of the finest professional musicians in Wales with vast experience in performing for all kinds of television, radio, film and live audiences.
Enjoy a summer evening with friends soaking up the exceptional musical talents of Russell, Fflur and guests at the prestigious Liberty Stadium, Swansea. It's an event you'll never forget.
