Medical Performance Manager, Chris Towers, has confirmed that the Ospreys are likely to boosted by the return to fitness of a number of key players ahead of the new season.
Having seen long-term absentees Ashley Beck and Dafydd Howells return to training for the end of season run-in and now looking forward to a full pre-season, Towers says that Tyler Ardron, Dan Baker, Ma’afu Fia and Jeff Hassler should all be back up and running before the new campaign kicks off.
“It’s positive news for all four” he commented.
“Jeff is five weeks post op following shoulder surgery. He’ll play a restricted part in early pre-season but we expect him to be available for the friendly matches.
“Ma’afu is receiving ongoing medical treatment on the toe issue that required surgery last month but his condition is much improved and we expect him to be back into full training during pre-season.
“Like Jeff, Dan is recovering well from shoulder surgery and will be restricted in the early part of pre-season, but it is anticipated that he will be available to the coaches for the friendlies.
“Tyler has made good progress following the knee problem that restricted him throughout last season and is due to report back for pre-season as normal in June.”
