Players visit Alltwen Primary

Pupils from Alltwen Primary School in the Swansea Valley received a special treat when they welcomed Ospreys pair Sam Lewis and Tom Habberfield into the classroom.

The duo were special guests for the day at the school, where they joined in with a rugby coaching session being delivered by Liam Evans, WRU/Ospreys Participation Officer for the Neath Port Talbot District.

As well as passing rugby skills, tips and hints, Sam and Tom also spent time answering questions from the children as well as posing for pictures and signing autographs.

Speaking about the visit, Liam Evans said that the players had made a big impression:

“Without a doubt every school we go in to the players are a huge hit with the children and it was no different with Sam and Tom. They were fantastic. They had great fun with the children who really responded to them and enjoyed working on their rugby skills with two Ospreys as well as getting their picture and autograph.

“We are working very hard at building closer links with all the schools in Ospreylia and we hope to see plenty of these children supporting their region at the Liberty Stadium soon.”

Sam Lewis added that both he and Tom had enjoyed the visit as much as the pupils:

“It was a great morning. It was good for us to get out into the community visiting a local school and help to spread the Ospreys word. When you are working with young children, helping them to improve their rugby skills, their enthusiasm and excitement rubs off on you, and it makes it a really enjoyable time for everyone.

“It’s great to see so many young children with a rugby ball. The more children we have enjoying the sport as a player or supporter, the stronger we can be as a region in the future.”
