Phillips pleased to be back in action

Scrum-half says he's feeling good after making his return to action in the Ospreys win over Connacht.

Phillips came off the bench for the second half of the 19-17 victory that put the Ospreys top of the Magners League, and he told the media after the game that he couldn't wait to play again after his long-awaited return:

"I felt good out there. It was a bit stop/start, when what I wanted was a free flowing game, but I'm glad to have that 40 minutes under my belt. I'm pleased to be back, I wasn’t really blowing too hard at the end of it which is a good sign. I was itching to get on, I wanted to play last week for Aberavon or Swansea but I wasn't allowed. I’ve been training really hard, the ankle feels fine. I felt good out there.

"It was pleasing to get back on the field again after a nasty injury and I can't wait to play again, I've spent so long on the sidelines I want to be playing. I just wanted to get tonight out of the way. I felt sharp, fit – I have worked hard on my fitness. I put myself in a good position after the Lions tour with regards to world rugby. And I wanted to follow that up with Wales. So it was disappointing. But I’m back now and I have to be positive. I feel good. I have worked really hard, with the Ospreys and on my own, I've been putting the hours in. I have worked hard and trained immensely on my fitness, strength and skills, I've tried to better myself in all ways, and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season.

"It was a battle out there tonight. We made too many silly mistakes which almost cost us at the end, but we got the win which is important, and we are right up there in the league. Tonight was a good learning curve for some of the boys and we can look forward to Edinburgh now. It's a tough league, with a lot of good sides, so to be sitting at the top at this point of the season is a positive, we need to make sure that we kick on from here."
