After beating Cardiff Blues North yesterday the young Eyasses remain unbeaten in the WRU Regional Age Grade Championship.
The Ospreys West Under 16's team couldn’t have had had a better season so far and went into last night's game against the Blues North Under 16's side in a confident mood, having won three times from three games.
However it was the Blues team that got things underway at Abercynon RFC, with just 3 minutes on the clock they slipped between the Ospreys defence to score. The home side couldn't convert, something the young Eyasses were able to do just a few minutes later when they scored their first try. Tom Howells getting all 7 points for the visitors.
It was a fast paced and exciting first half and just five minutes after the first Ospreys try, Keiron Williams raced over for their second. Tom Howells again placed the conversion right between the posts to extend their lead.
The only other score in the first half came with a second try for the Blues' Owain Ellis. Again the conversion went wide and at half time the Blues trailed 10 - 14.
It was a much quieter second half for both teams. Clever offensive play was matched by strong defensive work and neither side could make the impact they had in the first half.
Eventually it was the Ospreys that found the gap in defence that both teams had been looking for as Keiron Williams crossed the try line for the second time. Tom Howells' boot was as reliable as ever as he made it three kicks from three.
With no more scores added in the remaining quarter the game ended:
Cardiff Blues North Under 16's 10 - 21 Ospreys West Under 16's.
