Ospreys wait on Evans and Byrne news

As they prepare for Sunday's Heineken Cup game with French league leaders Clermont Auvergne, the Ospreys are waiting on fitness updates on Ian Evans and Lee Byrne.

Second row Evans, who returned to action last month following a lengthy layoff after undergoing an ACL reconstruction, was injured playing for Swansea in against Ponytpridd in the Welsh Premiership on Saturday evening, while Byrne was forced off during the Ospreys 32-32 draw with Leicester the following day.

Ospreys physio Chris Towers (pictured) says that the picture will become clearer regards their conditions over the next 48 hours. He commented:

"I can confirm that Ian Evans has suffered a tear of his pec major tendon. We have seen a specialist and are currently discussing the most appropriate treatment options, so a more detailed prognosis will be available in the next couple of days.

"Lee Byrne stirred up a foot injury during the Leicester match and in light of the fact that the foot hasn't fully settled, he is being reviewed by a specialist this evening, and I will be in a position to provide a more comprehensive update following this appointment."
