Ospreys vs Dragons: Stat Attack

It's a massive week for the boys. A Welsh derby and a crucial game in the Road to the Knockouts. That also makes it an opportune time to go into the numbers: Stat Attack time.

The Ospreys have a strong record over their Welsh counterparts.  In total, there have been 46 competitive matches between the Ospreys and Dragons. 28 Ospreys wins, 1 draw, 17 Dragons wins. 1121 points for, 882 against. We have won four of our last six BKT URC games against the Dragons.

Ospreys have lost just one of their last 14 matches against Welsh opposition at the Swansea.com Stadium, winning their last five on the bounce by an average margin of 17 points; the Dragons were the last Welsh team avoid defeat at the venue, securing a 20-20 draw in 2020.

Ospreys have scored 16 tries in the 20-minute period after half time in the URC this season, only Leinster (21) and the Bulls (19) have more, this equates to 34% of the Ospreys’ total tries which is the highest ratio of any side in this specific quarter of the match.

Jack Walsh has been a key feature for the Ospreys in the BKT URC. He is one of just three players from one of the Welsh regions to notch up 1,000+ minutes of action this season (1,003, also Tinus de Beer and Alex Craig).

One of the stat standouts for the Ospreys this season has been Owen Watkin. The centre has made seven tackles that have won a turnover for the Ospreys, no player has made more turnover-winning tackles in the URC this season (level with Simone Gesi).

The tee has been a strong point for our visitors this season, with the Dragons having the second best goal-kicking success rate (84%, Ulster 86%) of any side in the BKT URC this season.
