Ospreys vs Cardiff Rugby: Stat Attack

Following on from our massive win against the Scarlets (we did the double in case you missed it *insert eyes emoji*), we have another big derby game against Cardiff Rugby on New Year’s Day.

It’s a change of venue at the Dunraven Brewery Field, but the numbers behind the fixture remain the same. Here is this week’s Stat Attack.

Cardiff are coming off a huge victory against the Dragons last time out, but the Ospreys have won 20 of their last 24 BKT URC matches against Cardiff.

Despite that record, Cardiff have lost just one of their last four BKT URC away matches, with each of their last three such matches having been decided by margins of just a converted try or less. Alongside that, Cardiff have won four of their last five league derby matches away from the Welsh capital.

The 22 has been an area of positivity for the boys this season. The Ospreys have conceded an average of just 1.9 points per opposition 22 entry in the league this season, the best such rate of any side – they also rank third for points scored per attacking 22 entry this term.

When it comes to players, Deavesy was a stats standout last week. The flanker made more tackles than any other player during the most recent round of fixtures. For Cardiff, Alex Mann is the only player to have made 100+ tackles this season.

Another stats standout for the Ospreys this year has been Keiran Williams. Keith from Neath is one of just three players with a carry dominance rate of 70%+ in the BKT URC, alongside Marius Louw and Jamie Osborne.
