Ospreys U20's 36 Combined Services U23's 22

The Ospreys U20's bounced back from last week's defeat against North Wales to record an excellent victory over the Combined Services U23's at Maesteg on Sunday evening.

The Young Ospreys trailed 22-12 at the break, but hit back with 24 unanswered points in the second half.

Tries came from Lewis Harrhy (2), Aaron Jones, Luke Joseph, Rhodri Apsee and Jackson Szabo, with Will Hodnett converting two and Josh Austin adding a further two points.

Age Grade Development Manager, Steve Tandy, commented:

“It was a good experience for everyone involved. The coaching team led by Richard Lancaster have worked really hard to put together an U20 team and we saw on Sunday how competitive they could be.

“It was a very pleasing performance, with a lot of players really putting their hands up in terms of showing what they are capable of.”

The recent reintroduction of the U20 squad is part of an enhanced programme for the 2010/11 season that has also seen changes made to the development pathway in conjunction with the three District set-ups in the region, Afan Nedd, Bridgend and Swansea, aimed at increasing the number of teenagers and young adults actively involved in the game, and therefore, increasing the talent pool available to the Ospreys.
