Head Coach, Sean Holley, commented:

“Firhill is always a difficult place to go, and although we’ve won on our last two visits, both games were very tight affairs and we had to dig deep to get the result. I would expect it to be the same on Sunday. Over the last few seasons they have developed into a very good team and we know what kind of challenge is ahead of us.

“It’s important for us that we build up some kind of momentum after a good win against London Irish last weekend, but this time of the year always brings us a familiar problem when we lose so many players on international duty. We are thankful to the Welsh management for the way that they have handled this particular situation with us being the only team affected by the 13 day rule, they have released a number of players so that our fifteen has a more familiar look to it than it might have.

“We can’t be in any doubt though that this time of the year is a very important one for us, this is where we really see the strength of our squad and it’s a time for our younger players to stand up and really show us what they can do. Over the next six weeks when we are without 17 players on international duty, players have to put their hand up and take their chance. When we’ve won Magners League’s over the seasons, it’s been the performance of the whole squad that has made the difference, and that is the case more so now than ever with the extra games being played throughout the international periods.”
