This summer sees the 10th anniversary of the Ospreys’ move to the Liberty Stadium, and one loyal Ospreys supporter will be immortalised as the region gets set to re-name the Stadium in their honour.
All supporters who have been a member for each of the 10 seasons at the Liberty Stadium to date, and have already renewed for 2015/16, will be entered into a draw, with one name selected at random to have the stadium temporarily named in honour them for the big Ospreys v Glasgow game on Friday 8th May.
Ospreys CEO, Andrew Hore, said:
“Our supporters are the lifeblood of Ospreys rugby and as a club, we feel it’s important to thank them for their fantastic support, which is why we’ve decided to re-name our home, Liberty Stadium, after one of our most loyal supporters for the upcoming match against Glasgow.
“We are extremely fortunate to have such great support from our fans across Ospreylia and this campaign will immortalise one lucky winner, who has supported our team at the Liberty Stadium over the past decade, placing them in their rightful position at the very heart of their region.
“We are incredibly grateful to our partners at Liberty Properties, who are passionate supporters of sport in this region, for agreeing to honour a true Osprey in this fashion.”
The 2015 season membership campaign also features the hashtag - #OurBloodIsBlack – across the club’s social media activity which will announce further incentives for season members.
The Ospreys are offering one of the best value professional rugby 2015 season memberships in the whole of the UK. Adult renewals have until the 10th May to benefit from a price freeze for the second year in a row with supporters paying less now than they did for membership when the Ospreys first moved to their new home in 2005. Renewals are available from £99 (standard seating), with renewals for premium seating also frozen at £160 – less than the price of a standard membership three years ago.
Ospreys captain, Alun Wyn Jones, said:
“It’s 10 years since we moved to the Liberty Stadium and there have been some wonderful occasions in the time since. I remember playing against Wasps a teenager in the first ever game here and we’ve really made it our home since then.
“One common theme over the last 10 years has been the great backing that we’ve had from the stands, giving the boys a lift when we’ve needed it most, and we are going to need them again for what looks like being a huge game against Glasgow next Friday night.
“I think it’s a fantastic gesture that for one night only the Liberty is going to be renamed in honour of one loyal supporter, what a way to say thank you from the Ospreys!”
All season members who have purchased a season membership for the tenth consecutive season at the Liberty Stadium prior to May 7th will be automatically entered into the draw. The winner will be selected and contacted ahead of the game against Glasgow on Friday 8th May, KO 7.35pm
