Ospreys Support 'The Red Card' Campaign

The Ospreys have become the first Welsh rugby region to give its support to the "€˜Show Racism The Red Card' campaign.

Welsh internationals Mike Phillips and Duncan Jones, along with Scotland's Nikki Walker , attended a special function at the region's Liberty Stadium home on Tuesday 9th December, for the official launch of a new anti-racism poster to show the Ospreys support for the cause..

School children from Swansea's Cwmbwrla Primary and Waun Wen Primary joined the players at the event, where they posed questions to the players on the subject of racism in sport and in society, whilst attendees were shown the latest film produced by the campaign tackling racism.

Sunil Patel from Show Racism the Red Card said "Our new resources will move Show Racism the Red Card closer to every young person in Wales with our anti-racist message and we hope as many schools, fans and individuals will join us in using the new resources."

Ospreys Managing Director Mike Cuddy said: "We are delighted to be able to lend our support to this campaign. Whilst racism is not a problem that has had an impact on us here at the Ospreys, it would be wrong of us to turn our back on the issue and pretend it doesn't exist. Hopefully, by getting behind Show Racism The Red Card in this way, we can do our bit to help tackle a wider problem."

During the season, other clubs will also be holding events and working with the campaign towards 'Showing Racism the Red Card'.
