Last week members of Mumbles Cricket Club joined Ospreys Ben John and Sam Davies at Llandarcy to present a cheque for money raised at the charity cricket match to Velindre Cancer Centre.
Over the summer, the now traditional charity T20 cricket match was played between Mumbles Cricket Club and the Ospreys. Going into the game the teams were tied on one win each from matches in previous years. However a surprising victory came to the Ospreys mostly thanks to the batting skills of Ben, Sam and Craig Maloney.
As well as an entertaining day for those involved and the spectators, the two clubs managed to raise £2000 for the Ospreys official charity, Velindre Cancer Centre's Victory Over Cancer Campaign. The total almost doubling the amount made in the previous year's match.
Andrew Morris, Head of Fundraising at Velindre on the presentation:
"We are very grateful to Mumbles Cricket Club and the Ospreys for putting so much effort into providing such a great nights entertainment and obviously for the money it has raised for our Victory Over Cancer campaign. It was a cracking event and I'm glad all the players and spectators enjoyed".
Simon Lloyd, Mumbles CC Treasurer added:
"This was the third time we have played the Ospreys and the turnout this year was superb. It's great to be able to support the Velindre Cancer Centre this year".
