Ospreys to play Bath Rugby

Bath Rugby will provide the pre-season opposition at the Liberty Stadium this summer with the Canterbury Cup up for grabs.

Following the announcement last month that the Ospreys will wear Canterbury kit next season, the fixture will officially mark the launch of the partnership and will be the first opportunity for supporters to see the team wearing their brand new 2017/18 home shirt.

The game will be played on the weekend of August 18/19/20, dependent on Premiership football scheduling, with Swansea City’s fixture list for the season to be confirmed in mid June.

Admission to the Canterbury Cup match will be included in a 2017/18 season membership, which is available to buy now priced from £125 for adults.

There will be a number of exciting initiatives running in conjunction with Canterbury around the fixture as both partners work together to support the grassroots game.

Huw Warren, Ospreys Commercial Manager, commented:

“The first ever Canterbury Cup, between two teams wearing Canterbury, is a fantastic way to kick-off a new season at the Liberty Stadium and launch this exciting new relationship in style.

“The first game of the season at the Liberty Stadium is always a big occasion, and with it being the first time that the team will wear the new Canterbury home strip makes it even more significant. I’m sure there will be a big turnout for the game, particularly with the community activation we’ll be undertaking with Canterbury ahead of the big day.”

Canterbury’s Head of Sports Marketing, Simon Rowe said:

“We’re kicking off this new and exciting rugby partnership by rewarding supporters who are committed to the game with the opportunity to say ‘I was there’ for the big reveal of the new match jersey at the first Canterbury Cup match against Bath Rugby this August.

“In the coming weeks every club in the region will be offered free tickets to see their heroes battle it out against Bath live at the Liberty Stadium and, with some exciting money-can’t-buy incentives due to be revealed in the build up to the event, we’re working closely with the Ospreys to create a fun and memorable rugby day out.”
