Ospreys Mixed Ability Rugby

Open to children aged 6 – 16, the brand new Inclusive Community Club launches in Bridgend this month.

Ospreys in the Community are delighted to announce thelaunch of a brand new Inclusive Community Club with Ospreys Mixed Ability Rugby starting this month.

The new offering is open to children aged 6 to 16 years old of all abilities and will allow families and friends to play non-contact rugby and have fun together. The club will run every Sunday morning from 10 – 11am, starting on October 14th at Heronsbridge School, Bridgend and costs just £2 per child per session.

Paralleling the Welsh Rugby Union disability strategy that was launched earlier this year, Ospreys in the Community have worked closely with the WRU and their Disability Rugby Co-ordinator, Darren Carew, as well as Heronsbridge School to ensure the new club is open to all and provides a positive rugby experience for everyone who attends.

OitC Programme Co-ordinator, Tom Sloane, commented:

“We’re absolutely delighted to now be in the position to offer a mixed ability rugby club in Ospreylia. We’ve spent a lot of time working with the WRU and Heronsbridge School, who have been fantastic and so generous with their efforts and resources, to set the ICC up and it’s really exciting to now just be a couple of weeks away from the first session. As a foundation it’s really important to us that we help to offer everyone the opportunity to play our sport and ensure a jersey for all.”
