Ospreys Launch Limited Edition 3rd Shirt

The Ospreys today took the wraps off a new 3rd shirt that will be worn for the first time when they face Worcester Warriors at the Liberty Stadium in the EDF Energy Cup later this month (Sunday 26th October).

The new orange and gun metal grey shirt is being released as a strictly limited edition, with just 1,500 available to purchase. Ospreys managing Director Roger Blyth commented: "Year in, year out, we have seen that there is phenomenal demand for Ospreys shirts, with our traditional black and white shirts being snapped up not only across the region, but also, the length and breadth of the UK and beyond. Last season, we sold more than 42,000 shirts making it the second biggest selling shirt in the UK and Ireland, and the response to this year's shirts, launched just a couple of months ago, has seen sales rise by 25 per cent over the same period. We are always looking at innovative ways to meet this demand and we believe that this shirt will prove just as popular with supporters as our regular jerseys. It is a striking looking shirt, and I'm sure that we'll see plenty of Ospreys fans proudly wearing orange in the Liberty Stadium in the coming weeks." Bill Newton, MD of shirt manufacturer Kooga, added: "We have enjoyed an excellent relationship with the Ospreys over the last five years and never cease to be amazed by the popularity of their shirts, which we supply to retailers nationwide. The Ospreys share our progressive outlook on kit, and our desire to produce innovative, eye catching jerseys that are both technically superior and cutting edge. This season, having identified trends for loud, bold placement prints, tattooing and Celtic imagery, Kooga focused on the Celtic theme. The black and white shirts incorporate an open triad knot design, which is representative of magical inspiration, and for the new 3rd shirt, the pattern is taken from a weather beaten Celtic cross, enlarged and applied as a direct print, the perfect design for a team fiercely proud of its Celtic roots."  The new 3rd shirt is available to purchase now from the Ospreys Superstore at Liberty Stadium and online at http://shop.ospreysrugby.com/ priced £33 for juniors and £44.95 for adults.
