Ospreys host skills camp for young players

The Ospreys Community Development team have confirmed details of a special skills camp they are hosting for children aged 11-13 at Llandarcy Academy of Sport later this month.

The skills camp will be led by Player Development Officers at the region, accompanied by a number of players from the ‘C’ Group at the Ospreys, up and coming Eyasses who have already qualified for their UKCC Level 1 coaching award.

Youngsters attending the course will participate in sessions covering passing, tackling, evasion and positional skills, areas that are considered to be the key skills focus for those age-grades.

Ben Rose, WRU/Ospreys Regional Community Manager, said:

“This is the first time we’ve hosted a special skills camps open to all young rugby players aged between 11 and 13, that will focus on specific areas of development that will help to make participants better players.

“The sessions are open to anyone with an interest in playing rugby within these age grades, boys and girls, whether they already have a club or not at the moment. Anyone currently involved with a club in the region should be aware that they can bring their entire team along to take part, but should notify their development officer of numbers attending in advance.”

The skills camp takes place at the Ospreys’ Llandarcy HQ on Tuesday 30th August from 2.00pm, priced at just £5 per child.

Anyone interested in attending, or bring a team, should contact their local Development Officer.
