The Ospreys will take their preparations for the LV= Cup game against London Wasps on the road next week when they train at Bridgend College's Pencoed Campus.
The squad will make the short trip up the M4 from their Llandarcy Academy of Sport for a two-hour training session on Wednesday afternoon (2ndFebruary) ahead of the final pool game against the Aviva Premiership side at the Riverside Hardware Brewery Field on Sunday 6thFebruary (KO 3.00pm).
After training on Wednesday afternoon, some of the players will then visit the Bridgend Tesco Extra store between 4.30 and 6.30pm, where they will meet fans and sign autographs.
Then, on Saturday morning (5thFebruary), the matchday 23 will go through their final training run at the ground ahead of the game, in front of children from a number of local schools who have been invited along to enjoy a rare opportunity to watch the players in training.
A number of young players from the Bridgend area are likely to be involved in the game, and Ospreys Managing Director, Roger Blyth, said that local children can be inspired by the opportunity of seeing young local talent in an Ospreys shirt.
“Taking the game to Bridgend again is a fantastic opportunity for Ospreys fans in the area to get to see the future of the Ospreys in action. In particular, the likes of Tom Prydie, Gareth Owen, Matthew Morgan and Rhys Webb are all from the Bridgend area, and for a young rugby fan, to be able to see these players who grew up in their community representing the Ospreys at the Brewery Field will be pretty inspirational for them.
“The coaches will be taking the group to Pencoed for a training session on the Wednesday afternoon which will undoubtedly cause a stir among the students there, before a number of school children will have the opportunity to attend the final team run the morning before the game to a real insight into our match preparation before we play Wasps on Sunday afternoon.
“As was the case when we played Leicester at Bridgend in November, there is tremendous interest in the game and it’s all building up to be a great occasion, with the rugby public of Bridgend showing just how much they feel a part of Ospreylia.”
Tickets for the game are currently on sale at the Liberty Stadium Ticket Office, or direct from the Riverside Hardware Brewery Field, between 10am and 6pm daily, as well as via the Ticket Hotline on 08700 400 004 or online at www.ospreysrugby.com.
In addition, supporters can buy their Ospreys merchandise ahead of the game from the Bridgend RFC club shop, from Tuesday 1stFebruary onwards.
