Ospreys Flying The Nest

Fresh from appearing in the recent LV games against Northampton and Bath, 3 Ospreys have been selected to represent Wales 7's in the first two tournaments in the IRB World series in Dubai and South Africa.

For Ashley Beck, Nicky Thomas and Justin Tipuric it will be their competitive debuts and represents another milestone in their respective careers.

Beck and Tipuric both appeared for Wales U20 in the IRB World Cup held last summer in Japan and have continued their form in the Principality Premiership with Aberavon. Nicky Thomas’s selection is due reward for his barnstorming play in Swansea’s bright start to the season, with 10 tries bagged already and follows his transition to full time training with the Ospreys.

Ospreys skills coach Gruff Rees commented "For each of these players it will be a unique experience which will aid their playing development, notably as the sevens environment will challenge each of them in areas that they need to improve on to develop their overall game. The fast paced nature of the game and the tournaments comes at the right time in the careers of Ashley and Justin, whilst I am thrilled for Nicky as he has long been one of the most dangerous players in the premiership but has added real consistency and accuracy in his game this season."

Wales travel on the 28th of November to Dubai and compete there on the 4th / 5th December, before travelling to George and the South African leg on the 11th / 12th.
