Ospreys fall short in tough Edinburgh fight

A slow start costs the Ospreys as they come away from Edinburgh empty-handed.

Edinburgh were first on the scoreboard. Good line speed forced Ospreys into an error that was capitalised on by Edinburgh’s Ben Vellacott. Boffelli converted, 7-0.

The home team didn’t wait long to extend their lead: a break through was finished by the hooker, Dave Cherry. Boffelli converted, 14-0.

TRY FOR OSPREYS! The thrilling start continued as Ospreys answered back with a try of their own. The boys stole a lineout deep into Edinburgh territory and some great carrying resulted in a try for Dewi Lake. Owen Williams converted, 14-7.

Edinburgh struck again. An extended spell of possession near the Ospreys line was eventually finished by Sam Skinner. Boffelli converted, 21-7.

The home team scored again soon after as Boffelli intercepted and was able to finish unopposed. The Argentinian converted his own try, 28-7.

Yellow for Edinburgh. Sam Skinner was sent to the bin as for a tip tackle in the ruck.

The first card was followed by a second, with ayellow for Rhys Davies as he was deemed to have blocked off Darcy Graham.

On the brink of halltime Edinburgh scored again with a rolling maul was finished by Hamish Watson. Boffelli converted, 35-7

 

HALF TIME – EDINBURGH 35, OSPREYS 7.

 

Ospreys came out with a point to prove in the second half, and were the first team to score. A lineout deep into Edinburgh was won by the Ospreys and Dewi Lake scored again. Williams converted from a tough angle, 35-14.

Morgan Morris was sent to the bin not long after the score and Ospreys were down to 14 as we approached the 55 minute mark.

Edinburgh took advantage of the extra-man as Darcy Graham went on a mazy run and was able to finish. Boffelli missed, 40-14.

With just under 10 minutes remaining, Edinburgh went through again with Darcy Graham scoring his second. Boffelli missed, 45-14.

Ospreys answered straight back with a final score of their own. They went to the rolling maul and were able to score through Sam Parry. Anscombe converted with an excellent drop goal from out wide. 45-21
