Shane Williams and Jonathan Thomas were pleased with the way the Ospreys went about their business to secure a bonus point win in torrential rain at the Liberty Stadium on Friday evening.
Speaking after the match try scorer Williams, who crossed for his 31st Magners League try during the second half, said:
“It went okay. There were difficult conditions out there and we made the most of what we had really, I think. The penalty ratio certainly wouldn’t have pleased the backroom staff here. There are things we need to work on, but it was a solid win tonight in bad conditions.
“As far as we were concerned, we always had a game at the weekend and whatever happened during the week has happened. We knew it was going to be a big game tonight, we knew it was going to be tough, in tough conditions. We’ve gone out and had the points, I’m just glad really that we could come away in the second half.
“I’m feeling sharp, it was difficult tonight. I think ran here, there, and everywhere looking for the ball today and at times it was like playing with a bar of soap. I was glad to cross the line in the end. I did endeavour to try and get my hands on the ball out there, it was difficult, but the boys did well. It was a good win against a very good Treviso side.”
Meanwhile, Man of the Match Thomas, playing at the back of the scrum as number eight, added:
“I thoroughly enjoyed it today. I’ve been given an opportunity and it’s nice to play at eight, to get your hands on the ball a bit more.
“It’s a big boost for us (to get the four point penalty overturned). We’ve tried not to worry about it too much since the end of last season. To get the five points today in the conditions, it was very tough for handling and what not, we are very pleased with how we are developing.”
