Ospreys East U16 26 – 17 Dragons South U16

After a draw in round one, the Ospreys East U16s claimed their first win of the season, at home over the Dragons South.

The Ospreys East Under 16s used the home advantage of theBrewery Field last night to claim their first win of the 2016/17 Regional Age Grade season.

It wasn’t the best start for the Ospreys East as within five minutes of kick off prop Owen Peddle crashed over for the visiting Dragons side.

With no conversion, they carried their 5 point lead until the start of the second quarter when the young Ospreys got their chance. Daniel O’Sullivan getting the home sides first points on the board before Sam Costelow added a successful conversion.

With ten minutes to go until half time the Ospreys from the East extended their lead with an unconverted try, Josh Sands the man to cross the line.

Five minutes into the second half the Ospreys East U16s found the try line, Scott Ryall repeating last weeks efforts to score again, before Costelow added the conversion.

Despite trailing by 14 points the Dragons were in no mood to give up and towards the end of the third quarter scored two quick tries to bring themselves right back into contention. Only a missed conversion the difference in the scores between the two teams.

However it was the home side that managed to cement their win with a last ditch try in the final minute. Replacement Tom Bending doing the honours before Jacob Thomas, taking over kicking duties, kicked a successful conversion to bring the scoring to a close.
