Ospreys clinch four try West Wales Derby victory

Scarlets got on the board first at the West Wales Derby. A penalty won at the scrum was knocked through by Ioan Lloyd. 3-0 Scarlets.

TRY FOR OSPREYS! The boys won a penalty and went for the lineout. The maul ensued, and Scarlets brought it down before Keith from Neath picked up and dabbed it down for the score. Walsh converts, 7-3 Ospreys.

Scarlets scored next through another penalty. It was a close affair as we approached 15 minutes, 7-6 Ospreys.

Ospreys go close! Jac broke through a string of tackles but the last man was able to bring him down.

TRY FOR OSPREYS! Ospreys won a penalty near the line after Jac’s break, won the resulting scrum and Keith powered over for the score off the first phase. Walsh converts again, 14-6 Ospreys.

Scarlets replied with another penalty, Ioan Lloyd kicking it through again. 14-9 Ospreys.

The weather was causing a lot of problems for both sides early on and the unforced error count was mounting.

With five minutes left in the half Ospreys extended their lead through a Jack Walsh penalty. The Aussie’s kicking was as on point as it has been all season. 17-9 Ospreys.

 

HALF TIME – OSPREYS 17, SCARLETS 9.

 

The boys started where they left off in the first half and efficient work at the break down forced the Scarlets into a committing a few early penalties.

TRY FOR OSPREYS! Extended pressure and some powerful carrying on the Scarlets try line proved to be too much for the away side as Morgan Morris eventually bowled his way over for the score. 24-9 to the Ospreys!

Scarlets with a 50:22. A smart kick over the top from Reuben Morgan-Williams looked to be going straight into Jack Walsh’s hands but the bounce wasn't kind and Scarlets kicked a 50:22.

The away side enjoyed a resulting spell in the Ospreys 22, but the Ospreys defence stood strong meaning the Scarlets came away with nothing.

Sin bin for Scarlets! Some more pressure from the Ospreys forced the Scarlets prop Steff Thomas to give away a penalty and he was a shown a yellow card.

TRY FOR OSPREYS! Ospreys secured the bonus point try after Max Nagy broke through and offloaded to Dan Edwards who rounded the Scarlets fullback to score on his debut.
