The Dragons played into the wind in the first half and used it to their advantage, levelling Ospreys initial momentum. They looked set to make things difficult, but the boys continued to dig deep and were ferocious on the line in both attack and defence. On the 15 minute mark, some brilliant last-ditch defending held the Dragons out from a score.
There was the tense atmosphere that you would expect from a Welsh derby, which was spilling into a few scuffles in the breaks in play. All in good spirits!
The next opportunity went to the visitors as a penalty gave them an extended spell of possession in the Ospreys redzone. But, the boys stood firm and forced a handling error from quick linespeed.
TRY FOR THE OSPREYS! The forwards did great work to steal a lineout in midfield which put the Dragons on the back foot. Reuben Morgan-Williams was once again on the move as he recovered the ball and sprinted his way to the score. Dan Eds converted. Ospreys 14 - 0 Dragons.
The pack was winning the battle of the breakdown, turning multiple balls over at ruck time and giving the backs an excellent platform to launch their attacks from.
TRY FOR THE OSPREYS! Captain Sam Parry in for his 50th Ospreys try! In typical fashion, the Ospreys went to the maul from a lineout after an excellent kick to touch from Dan Edwards and the drive went over in seconds. Conversion missed in the swirling winds. Ospreys 19 - 0 Dragons.
With the clock in the red and a tap and go on the five, =-Dragons sent it through their pack before working it wide to Rio Dyer, who touched down for their first score. Ospreys 19 - 7 Dragons..
A super first half from the Ospreys, despite the stormy conditions.
